Opposition

Difficulties are God's errands; and when we are sent upon them, we should esteem it a proof of God's confidence,—as a compliment from God. ~Henry Ward Beecher

I recently joined a new social media platform. When I post on other platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, I make the same post there. After a few weeks of posting, I received messages to stop. These complaints were followed by messages from other followers asking me not to stop.

As of today, the only reply I made on the platform was to the person who requested that I continue posting. I thanked her and let her know I would persist,  because people need encouragement. I didn't address the opposition simply because I didn't want to start an unnecessary fight.

I am used to resistance from time to time, but I wonder why they stop and read the posts if they dislike them. Each post looks similar to the one above. Bloom with Jesus is always at the top, and my logo at the bottom.  The background picture and message changes, but the font even remains the same. It is obvious at a glance that it is one of my Christian posts. It would be so easy to scroll by, but instead they stop and post negative feedback.

God never promised that following Him would be easy. Matthew 24:9-10 (NLT) says, "You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers. And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other."

We are called to endure in spite of any resistance and negativity about our beliefs. We will one day be rewarded in heaven for our patience, faithfulness and persistence.

"But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come soon." (Matthew 24:13-14 NLT).

Social media is just one means of communication to help spread the message of Jesus with a lost world. So I will endure the opposition and comments to reach the one person who needs encouragement. I pray Blooming Crazy prayers that I reach the one who needs to hear about Jesus today.

How can you help spread the gospel and encourage others today? You can always log on to social media and share one of my posts (or this blog post) with others. Take a few moments each week and create a post of your own. Consider witnessing to a neighbor, or sharing a devotional book with an unbeliever. There are many ways you can be a witness, and remember your reward will be in heaven one day!
